Homai is a residential suburb of South Auckland, with a station that serves as a practical transport hub for the community. A short walk from the platform is the Netball Manurewa Community & Events Centre — a thriving multisport hub used by over 1,000 players each season, with indoor and outdoor courts, a large events hall and the new Bike Hub Manurewa. Next door on McVilly Road is the BLENNZ Homai Campus — the Blind and Low Vision Education Network New Zealand's national base.

A thriving multisport venue and community hub at 95 Browns Road — home to over 1,000 netball players each season. Facilities include 10 outdoor netball courts (with canopy cover), two indoor courts, two basketball courts and a half-size football pitch — a replica of the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup Unity Pitch. The indoor stadium seats up to 800 people and is available for community hire, along with a fully kitted commercial kitchen and formal and informal meeting rooms. Tīkanga and te ao Māori are central to how the organisation operates. Mon–Fri 10am–4pm.

Right next to the Netball Manurewa courts on Dalgety Drive — "a stone's throw from Homai Station." Operated by the Beautification Trust with support from Auckland Transport, the hub is housed in two vibrant repurposed shipping containers. Offers free access to tools, basic bike maintenance workshops, safety tips and guidance on local cycling routes. Refurbished donated bikes are also available for purchase. Open Thu 12–6pm and Fri–Sat 10am–4pm. Led by local cycling advocate Reesh Casey and a team of volunteers.

BLENNZ — Blind and Low Vision Education Network NZ
The Blind and Low Vision Education Network New Zealand (BLENNZ) operates its Homai Campus on McVilly Road, adjacent to the Netball Manurewa precinct and a short walk from the station. The Homai Campus is BLENNZ's national base — providing specialist education and support services for students who are blind, deafblind or have low vision, from early childhood through to secondary school. The campus includes a residential school facility, specialist teaching resources and the national BLENNZ resource team. Open weekdays during school terms.
