Remuera is one of Auckland's most attractive Eastern Line stations — a beautifully restored heritage building at the intersection of Market Road and Great South Road. Remuera Station is an authentic and beautifully preserved early Auckland railway building — "amazing early Auckland train station, authentic and original, well cared for." The original timber waiting room and platform canopy have been carefully maintained, with heritage seating still in place for waiting passengers. Regulars describe it as nostalgic and charming. A reminder of what the Auckland railway network looked like before modernisation.

Right next to the station — one reviewer declared the almond milk vanilla latte here "the best coffee in the world" after drinking coffee in 16 countries. Outstanding pies, freshly baked ginger gems and cabinet food at very good prices. "The best pies, sandwiches and coffee in the Greenlane area." Remarkably, opens at 5am on weekdays. Mon–Sat only.

Dreamers Cafe
An enchanting café in an old villa with a large cottage garden — indoor and outdoor seating in a wonderfully relaxed setting, steps from the station. "Well worth the train ride to get here." The carrot cake is outstanding, coffee is excellent, and the friendly owner has run the café for 20 years. Breakfast toasties, great value and a peaceful garden patio. Open 7 days.

Mt Hobson / Ōhinerau
One of Auckland's least-visited but most rewarding volcanic reserves — a quiet, well-kept maunga with an entrance on Mt Hobson Lane — just 4 minutes from the station. The summit reveals the Sky Tower, Hobson Bay, Rangitoto, One Tree Hill, Mt Eden, the motorways and the CBD all at once. A gentle 15-minute loop walk on good gravel paths. Dogs on leads welcome. Free, open daily.

A friendly and welcoming community sports club on Market Road — lawn bowls and bridge in a great club atmosphere. "Awesome and friendly bowling club, 100% recommended."
